The potential of older brains

Do you have ‘senior’ moments, where a person’s name for example just won’t come to mind? Gene Cohen, in his book The Mature Mind, suggests that while your retrieval system is working at the speed of light; it’s just that there is so much more to retrieve! He talks about how an older person’s brain is physically different from a younger person’s brain. Used continuously an older person’s brain looks like a dense forest of thickly branched trees, compared with the thinner and less dense forest of a young brain. So you may not be forgetting; you are taking longer to retrieve those names. Are you assured by Cohen?
