Build a network as you transition

Look around you – who are the people who provide you with support on a regular, perhaps daily, basis? Who do you share your goals and dreams with? Perhaps it is time to take some steps to assist you in building your effective support team. Here are three steps to build that team.

Make a list of new people you could meet. Write down what interests you and seek like minded people. Perhaps these people are members of communities you are interested in joining, whether service clubs or entertainment groups.
Make a second list of people who are both interested and supportive in what you want to do. Perhaps you want to set up a group of your own to pursue your own goals, whether in service of others or seeking new friendships.
The third step is to find an individual who believes in you and your interests and even the work you do. This person is likely to become your mentor, your friend and your confidant. This person is interested in your well-being and success.   Who has been an influence for you in the past? What were the characteristics of that person that you seek now?
