Encore - the final stage of your second half
This final phase Gene Cohen in his book, The Mature Mind, calls ‘encore’ in the French sense of ‘again’, ‘still’ and ‘continuing’. Cohen considers that this phase is not a swan song, but a variation on a theme; the desire to go on, even in the face of adversity or loss. Of course, going on may mean change and adjustments as you grow older including the loss of loved ones, your physical health and your independence. Changes may occur to your living arrangements or in the activities you have enjoyed to date. However, your need to remain vital can lead to new manifestations of creativity and social engagement.
